Nicaraguan labor leader Miguel Ruiz lectured in the U.S. in the fall of 2005 to alert citizens of this country to the debilitating consequences of passage of DR-CAFTA (Dominican Republic-Central America Free Trade Agreement) on the labor class and people of Nicaragua. Citing current conditions in the maquilladores (factories) in the free trade zone on the edge of Managua, and of the situation for labor in Mexico five years after the implementation of NAFTA (the North American Free Trade Agreement), Ruiz sounds a warning for the working class of the US, as well as the rest of the globe.
